Is the pool available for open lap swimming?

The pool will be available for open lap swimming starting Monday, May 18, 2020. Only 12 swimmers (one on each end of the lane) are allowed in the pool at one time. There are no pre-assigned lanes. There will be a pool monitor assisting swimmers with placement in the pool. The open swim times and guidelines are detailed on our website under the tab “Open Swim”.

During open lap swimming, I am required to share a lane.

No, you are not required to share a lane. It is suggested to share a lane in order to accommodate fellow swimmers.

What is the minimum age for open lap swimming?

There is no lifeguard of duty during open lap swimming. The minimum age is 14. Kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Can you sign up for a lane at a certain day and time for open lap swimming?

No, not at this time.

Is Ahwatukee Park closed?

The park will re-open on Friday, May 15. However, due to COVID-19 precautions, the playground, rental of the picnic ramadas and organized baseball games remained closed until further notice. Please follow social distancing guidelines. We all have a social responsibility to keep ourselves, our families, and our community safe and healthy.

Are the tennis courts closed?

The tennis facility re-opened on May 11, 2020. The tennis facility is membership based. However, you can play as a guest 5 times a year for a guest fee of $5 per person. To play as a guest, you must call 480-893-3431 to reserve a court. Please view the guidelines outlined under the tab “Tennis” relating to COVID-19 precautions.

When will fitness classes resume?

The Masters Swim Class will resume Monday, May 18, 2020. Classes are Monday, Wednesday & Friday 5 am – 6:15 am. All participants must sign the Assumption of Risk/Liability Waiver before attending class. Classes are limited to the first 12 participants (one on each end of the lane) due to COVID-19 precautions. Please check our website for updates. The Zumba and HIIT & FIT classes are cancelled until further notice.

Are the summer programs for kids still running?

Yes, our summer recreational swim team, the STEM & Sports Camp, swim lessons, and Preschool Cooking & Craft and Dance are still running this summer. However, we have guidelines in place to adhere to social distancing requirements outlined by the CDC. Please check the applicable program tab to see the changes.

How will you manage social distancing in classes and programs?

Each program and class have specific guidelines for social distancing. Placement of kids whether in the pool or in a classroom will be assigned and enforcement by the instructor and instructor aids.

Are there extra sanitizing procedures in place?

Yes. It is a requirement for anyone who enters and exits our facility to apply hand sanitizer. In addition, we have multiple sanitizer stations around our facility for all our patrons. Instructors are provided with masks and gloves and are frequently washing hands and using hand sanitizer throughout the day. The maintenance staff has increased the sanitation procedures for our facility to ensure a clean and safe environment for our patrons.

Can I get a refund for a class or program that is cancelled due to another closure due to COVID-19?

Prorated refunds/credits will be given for registered activities that were canceled due to closure relating to COVID-19.
